Chapter 1:  Installation

In this chapter:

1.4: Final Install procedure

At this point, you are ready to run the installer on your web site and complete the installation of EDatCat.  Before you do this, run down the following checklist:

If you answered "Yes" to all of the above, it's time to point your browser to your installer.  On the page containing the link to your script, you will see a link to your setup script.  If you have closed this page, the link will be something like:

http://www.your-site.com/cgi-bin/ABCsetup.pl (ABC being the three-letter code you provided).

When you call this script, you should be welcomed with a page containing your store name and a login form.  Enter your admin password.  If you get an error, make sure you typed the URL correctly and that the script has 755 permissions.

On the next page, you will see all of the info you have entered thus far.  You will also have the opportunity to change your password (don't worry- you can change it at any time).

If everything looks good, click "Continue Install".

At this point, EDatCat will begin to transfer all of the necessary files to your server.  EDatCat will transfer the files to the appropriate directories and set the correct permissions.  This process may take a moment or two depending on the speed of your connection.

If this process is successful, you're done with installation!   EDatCat is now fully functional and ready to go!  You should see a link to your Administrative Section where you can begin configuring and customizing EDatCat to suit your needs.

NEXT-  Part Five: Calling the Script

If the process fails, you should receive a detailed error message.   Make a note of these errors and continue on to the next section of this manual to Troubleshoot.
